In their early stages, these cameras were only associated with extreme sports such as surfing, skiing, and skydiving. Consumers are now beginning to understand that this technology is capable of so much more.
Benefits of Using a GoPro Alternative Sports Action Cameras
One of the more recent trends is to use Cheap GoPro Alternative action cameras for outdoor recreation such as surfing, skiing, hunting, or fishing. These devices are ideal for such activities because of their durable, waterproof housing.
One perspective that is incredible to watch is the view of a dog on the hunt. Again, when these animals are charging through marshes there is a substantial amount of light that reflects from the water’s surface and there is room to improve upon this problem with the use of a polarization filter.
One of the best things about the outdoors is the breathtaking beauty that nature provides us with. Any outdoor enthusiast can appreciate the scenery that they are able to be immersed in while doing their favorite activity. Whether it is fishing, surfing, snowboarding, hiking, or hunting there is always plenty of natural greatness to witness. Polarization filters are designed to capture the vibrant colors that nature has to offer. These lens additions reduce color saturation that is found while filming allowing the vivid tones to be at their full potential. Majestic scenery should be viewed in its natural form without the worries of having your image becoming distorted due to sunlight.
Cheap GoPro Alternative – Sports action camera technology is progressing at a rate of knots: as the list of features gets bigger, physically the cameras get smaller, tougher and more versatile. Features such as full HD, 4K recording, 10+ MP (megapixel) still images and extreme element resistance are now the norm for the majority of modern sports action cameras, which raises the question, what next?
Tips for Choosing LegazoneSports Action Camera 12MP 1080P 2.0 LCD 170 Wide Angle Lens Waterproof Diving HD Camcorder Car DVR Dual Screen
GoPro Hero Cameras are the coolest new product for outdoor enthusiasts. They make a fantastic gift for yourself or loved ones.
The GoPro brand was developed in Half Moon Bay, CA and is the one of the foremost brands for action cameras. An action camera is a highly durable, waterproof camera that can withstand the abuse of the outdoors and takes high quality video footage without even being touched by the user. The user simply mounts the camera on her helmet or surfboard or even ski pole and presses record. The GoPro Hero Cams can be used and have been used for an amazingly diverse group of activities, from hunting and fishing to skiing and rock-climbing, from Sarah Palin's Alaska TV show to filming inside the mouth of an alligator. GoPro Hero cameras have been used to film on more than sixty TV shows. Perhaps the best part about these cameras is that you do not need to be professional videographer to get amazing video footage. You simply strap the camera on, press record, and start your adventure.
So now you ask me why the GoPro Hero Camera specifically. That's a great question. There are other action camera products available, most notably the Contour products like Contour Roam. The Contour products are not bad, but GoPro has some serious advantages for beginners. Mainly price. More expensive action Camera's usually feature slightly more Field of Vision (FOV) with means how wide the lens is, and sometimes slightly higher quality images. These features are certainly cool, but if you are just starting out with action cameras, I recommend sticking to the basics - you probably won't notice the difference.
So you're interested in a GoPro Hero, but which one should you buy. All GoPro products are called "GoPro HD Hero". They are all HD, even the cheapest one. To avoid confusion, realize that there are actually only three different GoPro cameras, however each camera has a number of packages it is sold in and therefore is labeled as a more specific product, for example the GoPro HD Helmet Hero which is a GoPro HD Hero camera sold in a set that attaches to different helmets.
The three different Cameras available from GoPro are the Hero 960, Hero Original and Hero2 Professional. The Hero 960 is only $150 and it's the one I recommend to people who are starting out. The main drawback of the Hero 960 is that the picture quality is 960p rather than 1080p of more expensive models. It also has a less wide-angle lens. However neither of these factors matter enough for a beginner that they should necessarily drop a whole lot of extra money on the higher end models. The Hero Original is GoPro's classic model and starting at $200 I also recommended as it has 1080p and comes in packages with accessories to attach to either a helmet or surfboard or other outdoor gear. And finally the Hero2 is GoPro's most robust model, which I certainly recommend for someone really serious about adventure filming. However if you are just starting out and trying to film your two-year-old on the slopes for the first time, I wouldn't drop $300 on the finest gear without some background experience.
Happy documenting your peak experiences. Keep shredding!
GoPro Vs SJCAM: Which Company's Sports Action Camera Is Rugged?
With all digital camera equipment having gone 'High Def', it's not surprising that helmet cameras have now reached the esteemed HD level too. So is it safe to assume that if you were to buy a HD helmet camera today, that you would be future-proofing yourself against better cameras being released?
Action camera technology has been continually improving over the past few years: each new launch was able to top the competition by being slightly better in video quality then the others and thus claiming to be the 'best on the market. Most of these claims were fairly accurate but now we've effectively reached a glass ceiling in terms of video quality. There are a good number of cameras for extreme sports on the market boasting 1080p High Def video and while there are yet higher levels of HD, no standard computer would be able to edit, let alone play videos recorded at higher levels. Therefore, until standard PCs can handle higher quality videos it is unlikely any helmet camera brand will be be able to offer consumers an improvement on the current sticking point of 1080p.
So this begs the question, what's next? How are these action cameras going to carry on improving over the next few years? We predict that the price and the camera's features will become the main points of differentiation in the action camera market.
Most people tend to have a set budget for their camera and so it's great to see that they can now get more for their money compared to just a year ago. Previously the best action cam on the market was £550 and offered DVD quality video but today you can get a 1080p HD action camera for under £300. Not a bad trend for the consumer.
So with great quality video at relatively cheap prices, the next stage of development for the helmet camera is an improvement in features. Over the next few years we are likely to see helmet cams offering GPS video logging, g-force logging, 3D, and much more.
If you are in the market for an HD helmet camera then rest assured that the video quality is not going to be significantly enhanced in the near future. The only way in which helmet cameras are likely to improve is a greater development of features which may improve usability and that simply means you'll be able to use these action cams in more extreme sports in more ways to get more extreme videos!
